DLM Preheater

Close Window

This system allows a boiler to be brought up to a pressure of 10bar (145psi). Boiler water is heated electrically and pumped in the boiler. The system is closed, in other words the heated water pumped in to the boiler forces water then in the boiler out and through the preheater. The system heats the water gradually having the effect of evenly warming the boiler from the water side and not the fireside.

The advantages are many and include:

The centre valve is the exit point for boiler water on its' way to the preheater. The valves are proprietary pressure vessel fittings and not made specifically for this type of locomotive. October 8 2003
