At Llanfair I was lucky to get a visit to the various sheds on site to inspect the locomotives and other items of rolling stock. Many thanks to John Bancroft for taking the time to show me around and answering my questions, especially the ones on water treatment.
I arrived at Llanfair a little after 9am in time to see the preparations for the first train of the day.

Having blown down 823 prepares to move off to the yard. August 14 2003

Llanfair station yard has a nice collection of GWR style signals and signalbox. Here 823 runs forward to get coal. August 14 2003

823, along with the rest of the fleet, has been redraughted. A modern Lempor nozzle and chimney extension lurk in the smokebox. But would you know it by looking ? 823 Countess, when running as No.2, was the second locomotive tackled by Nigel Day and Shaun McMahon. August 14 2003

A little while ago Sir Drefaldwyn had her smokebox prepared for display at a Gala weekend. it is conveniently still labeled ! The Nigel Day / Shaun McMahon Lempor type nozzle can clearly be seen on top of the blast pipe.
