Whilst I waited for Nigel Day to finish work on the Snowdon Mountain Railway I took advantage of the fantastic weather to get some photographs.

I arrived in Llanberis in time to see the final train of the day on the Llanberis Lake Railway. Here quarry Hunslet 0-4-0st Dolbadarn arrives at Gilfach Ddu station. August 14 2003
Dinorwic slate quarry has certainly left its' mark on the area. The sheer size of the workings is amazing. Many of the rope worked inclines and gallery levels, which were largely steam operated, are still clearly visible. August 14 2003

Having taken a few photographs I went back in to Llanberis to get some food. I eat at the excellent 'Pete's Eats'. It comes highly recommended ! After this I met up with Nigel for another very interesting and informative evening of modern steam talk.
